Hello friends, I'm Mrs. Lisa!
Welcome Friends!
I'm the owner of Little Sprouts Learn and Play Preschool in Fredericksburg, Virginia. In addition to the fantastic teachers in Preschool Club, I'll be your child's personal preschool teacher. So after you join, I'll stay in close contact to make sure you have a great experience!
For as long as I can remember, I've always wanted to be a teacher. I have a Master’s degree in Education, and almost 20 years of experience as an educator in public and private schools, as well as church settings. I believe preschool should be a warm, faith-filled experience where kids learn through play, grow in confidence and independence, and develop kindness, curiosity, and strong character.

Our small classes of just 5 children in-person and up to 10 online, allows your child to be comfortable and grow valuable friendships with the other preschoolers and myself. Because conflict-resolution skills are super important to learn at this age, we help your child work through their problems with other children. Pretty soon they’re using the same strategies and words we’ve taught them, all by themselves!

Each year, your child will receive a Little Sprouts t-shirt for that school year to wear on Spirit Days. Some of our families have been with us so long they are t-shirt collectors! We will also save some of your child’s artwork for a special portfolio you get at the end of the year.

We offer you the opportunity to enrich your preschool experience by enjoying book orders, school pictures, class pictures, graduation pictures, and an end-of-the-year school memories video.

When should I call to register my child?
It’s never too early to call, so call as soon as you even think about registering, because our classes fill up ridiculously fast!
When does preschool start? Can I enroll mid-year?
We have a 10-month school year (Aug.-May) and a 2-month summer camp (June-July). If we have spots available, you can enroll mid-year. Please call us to see if we have any spots available.
How old does my child need to be to attend?
Preschool classes are for children who are ages 3-5 (and "independent almost-3-year-olds") by Sep. 1. Our summer enrichment program is for children who are ages 2-5 by June 1.
Does my child have to be potty trained?
Yes. If you have any questions about whether or not your child is ready, feel free to give us a call. We even have a “How To Potty Train” your child handout we can give you. It’s helped many preschool moms quickly potty train their kids. We’re here to help!
What is your teaching philosophy?
We follow a “whole child” philosophy where we work with you to improve your child’s Social, Emotional, Cognitive, Language, and Physical skills. Our curriculum is based on the NAEYC guidelines and features a balance of teacher-directed and child-initiated hands-on activities to accomplish these goals. We also incorporate Fundamentals Preschool Curriculum. Your child will learn to socialize, make friends, develop social and emotional skills, and be more than ready for Kindergarten!
Are there additional fees during the year?
No. Your registration fee covers all your child’s supplies and reserves a spot in our program. Your child won’t pay anything to attend our trips and activities. And your family can come for free too! Your child will also receive at no extra cost: a preschool shirt to wear on Spirit Day. If you would like to order class pictures or sprout photos, the cost is at your discretion per the company's offerings. We will offer a fall and spring photo shoot.
What if my child has food restrictions?
No worries. Several of our students have food intolerances and allergies. We ask these families to bring in their own snacks, and we create nut-free classrooms any time a child’s allergy is severe enough to require an epipen.
Is the registration fee refundable?
No.
How many students do you have per class?
We have the smallest class sizes in town so your child gets lots of 1-on-1 time. We only have 10 students per online class and 5 per in-person class.
